BioProtector
systems built to date span the range
from 300 cfm to 60,000 cfm. These
systems are designed for installation in
the HVAC system of a building, or a
portion of a building, to sterilise air
flowing in the building's air ducts, or
provide sterile air for selected parts
of the building.
The AUVS technology on which the
BioProtector™ product line is based can
be easily scaled for larger or smaller
airflow volumes.
The BioProtector™
line of products provides the ultimate
in biological protection for military
and civilian buildings, hospitals and
other facilities.
FEATURES
 |
Effective against all types of
microorganisms |
 |
Greater than 6 logs kill (1 million
times reduction) of UV resistant
endospores (B. subtilis) – even
higher kill for other organisms |
 |
Effectiveness documented in
government tests |
 |
Proprietary technology multiplies UV
intensity |
 |
Up
to 1000 times the intensity of
conventional low power UV systems |
 |
16,000 hour lamp life (2 years 24/7
operation) |
 |
Designed for installation in HVAC
system |
 |
Scalable from small (<300 cfm) to
large (>100,000 cfm) units |
BENEFITS
 |

BP246i (see photograph) is an example of
Novatron's BioProtector™ product line.
It is sized for a nominal airflow volume
of 3500 cfm and can be operated at up to
7000 cfm. It has dimensions of 24 in. x
48 in. x 72 in., weighs approximately
250 lbs, and can be operated
continuously 24 hours per day, 7 days
per week. The replacement interval for
the UV source is 16,000 hours. For
continuous 24-7 operation, this equates
to a UV source replacement interval of
approximately once every 2 years.
The BioProtector™
provides 6 logs kill (99.9999%) of
resistant endospores, and much higher
kill levels for viruses and vegetative
microorganisms. The
units typically have a pressure drop of
less than 0.3 iwg, which means they can
be easily retrofitted into existing HVAC
systems without increasing the fan power
or reinforcing the existing HVAC
ducting.
Table 1
shows examples of BioProtector™ system
sizes for a few selected airflow
volumes. BioProtector™ units can be
designed to accommodate airflow of
several hundred thousand cfm or larger.
